26 & 27 January 2026
On 26 January 2026, a Republic Day Special Blood Donation Drive was organized at Embassy Lake Terraces, Hebbal, Bengaluru, mobilizing residents to contribute towards a life-saving cause. This was followed by a youth-focused blood donation drive on 27 January 2026 at Mount Carmel College (MCC), Vasanth Nagar, Bengaluru, encouraging student participation and awareness about voluntary blood donation.
Both drives were conducted in collaboration with Sankalp, an organization dedicated to supporting children affected by Thalassemia who require regular blood transfusions for survival. The initiative aimed not only to collect blood units but also to educate communities about the urgent and continuous demand for safe blood supply.
At Embassy Lake Terraces, pre-registration campaigns were conducted within the residential community to maximize turnout. Awareness posters, digital invitations, and volunteer outreach helped engage families and young professionals. At Mount Carmel College, student volunteers actively promoted the drive through classroom announcements, campus outreach, and peer engagement to build a culture of social responsibility among youth.
Certified medical teams managed the entire donation process, including donor eligibility screening, haemoglobin testing, blood pressure checks, sterile blood collection, and post-donation recovery monitoring. Donors were counselled about nutrition, hydration, and the importance of repeat donations. Educational sessions highlighted how one unit of blood can save up to three lives, especially children battling Thalassemia and other critical conditions.
The initiative successfully combined community participation, youth engagement, and medical safety standards to strengthen the voluntary blood donation ecosystem in Bengaluru.
