On 18 November 2025, the “Warmth for Girl Child” winter support initiative was conducted at Rainbow Home in Jalahalli, Bengaluru, to provide seasonal protection for vulnerable girls residing at the shelter. Children living in institutional care or from disadvantaged backgrounds are particularly susceptible to seasonal illnesses during colder months due to limited access to adequate winter clothing and protective essentials.

This initiative was implemented in collaboration with Need Based India, focusing on safeguarding the health and wellbeing of young girls through the distribution of high-quality winter sweaters. Prior to distribution, a basic needs assessment was conducted with the shelter administration to identify appropriate sizes and ensure equitable allocation.

Volunteers personally distributed the sweaters to each child, creating a warm and supportive interaction rather than a transactional distribution process. The engagement included conversations about winter hygiene, self-care practices, and the importance of staying protected during seasonal changes. This approach ensured that the initiative addressed not only physical comfort but also emotional wellbeing.

By providing essential winter clothing directly at Rainbow Home in Jalahalli, the initiative helped reduce the risk of cold-related illnesses while reinforcing a sense of dignity, care, and community support among the children.
