On 13 November 2025, a comprehensive preventive health camp was conducted at the Government School in Dasarahalli, Bengaluru, to address untreated dental and vision-related health issues among students from economically vulnerable communities. Dasarahalli, being a densely populated area with limited access to regular healthcare services, often sees children missing routine medical check-ups, resulting in undiagnosed oral infections, vision impairments, and hygiene-related conditions that negatively affect academic performance and overall wellbeing.
The initiative was implemented in collaboration with C. Krishniah Chetty Foundation, Ramaiah Dental College, and Nethradhama Eye Hospital. A structured medical setup was created within the school premises, dividing screening into dedicated dental and ophthalmic examination stations to ensure organized flow and individual attention for each child.
Dental assessments included cavity detection, plaque evaluation, gum health examination, malalignment checks, and counselling on proper brushing techniques. Eye examinations covered visual acuity testing, refractive error identification, eye muscle coordination checks, and screening for common pediatric vision issues. Each student’s findings were recorded systematically, and children requiring advanced care were provided referral slips for further evaluation at partner medical institutions.
In addition to screenings, interactive awareness sessions were conducted to educate students about personal hygiene, nutrition habits, oral care routines, and the importance of regular eye check-ups. Teachers were also briefed on identifying early warning signs in children, enabling sustained monitoring beyond the camp.
By bringing preventive healthcare services directly to the school in Dasarahalli, this initiative ensured early detection, reduced the risk of long-term complications, and strengthened the culture of routine health screening within the government school ecosystem.
