As part of a Women’s Day initiative, Rotary Midtown NextGen organized a visit to the State Home & Reception Center, Bengaluru, which functions under the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Karnataka. The home currently provides shelter, care, and rehabilitation support to 45 women residents, many of whom come from vulnerable and challenging backgrounds.
The visit was led by Chairperson Rtn. Misbah, along with Rtn. Roshini and Rtn. Swetha, reflecting the club’s commitment to understanding and supporting the needs of vulnerable women in institutional care.
During the visit, the team interacted with the Superintendent, staff members, and the FAHI team, who are actively involved in providing trauma-informed expressive arts interventions aimed at improving the emotional wellbeing and psychosocial recovery of the residents. These sessions play an important role in helping residents express emotions, rebuild confidence, and foster healing.
The interaction and observation of the facility helped the team gain a deeper understanding of the daily routines, living conditions, and support systems available to the women. It also helped identify several infrastructure and facility gaps that could be improved to enhance the comfort, dignity, and wellbeing of the residents.
Based on the needs identified during the visit, Rotary Midtown NextGen extended support by sponsoring several essential items required for the residents and the facility.
